Noah grew up in rural southern Alberta, Canada, where he played hockey in the Foothills Bisons and High River minor hockey organisations. As a former archaeologist Noah studied in Canada (University of Lethbridge), the United States (Harvard University) and the United Kingdom (Oxford University), and participated in excavations in Canada, Belgium, England, France and Israel. Noah completed his doctorate in Archaeological Science at Oxford University, which included the analysis of prehistoric Jomon populations from Japan as part of a research program that he carried out at the University of Tokyo (Graduate School of Frontier Sciences / Kashiwa Campus). Noah subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Archaeological Science at the Organic Geochemistry Unit (School of Chemistry) at the University of Bristol (UK) before pursuing a career in law.

Noah was a defenseman for the Oxford University Dark Blues in the British Universities Ice Hockey Association (BUIHA) and captained the team during his final season (way back in 2007-08). He later joined the London Bulldogs, a competitive recreational team that largely consists of players from Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and in addition to London-based league play he participated in international tournaments in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.

Noah moved to Japan with his family in late 2016 and has since worked for English and American law firms in Tokyo as a project finance and energy lawyer (English qualified). He has been a member of the Tokyo Canadians since early 2023 and is delighted to be playing (ice) hockey again, especially with the TCHC.
