Introducing Mickaël HÉBERT BUREAU, a French Canadian with roots extending from the quiet town of Varennes, just outside the city of Montreal. A lifelong passion for hockey has been a defining thread throughout his journey, beginning at the age of 7 and persisting through the years. From playing the sport to following the Montreal Canadiens, and more recently, delving into the intricacies of researching statistics and draft-eligible players, Mickaël’s interest for hockey has never stopped growing.

In 2018, Mickaël embarked on an adventure as a university exchange student at Rikkyo University in Tokyo and immersed himself in a new city for the first time. During that year, he also had the chance to join Wednesday night hockey at Takadanobaba, indulging in the joy of playing hockey. But in 2019, Mickaël had to go back to Montreal to finish his Bachelor’s degree.

Last summer marked a significant chapter in his life as Mickaël, driven by a desire to come back to Tokyo, made the decision to bid farewell to his job in Canada. Coming back to Japan, Mickaël committed himself completely to the pursuit of mastering the Japanese language while concurrently navigating the realms of freelance IT consulting.

Beyond the rink, Mickaël unveils yet another layer of his diverse interests. He is an ardent fan of video games. Games like League of Legends and Heroes of the Storm have always taken a big part of his life, showcasing a skill set that, unsurprisingly, surpasses his proficiency in hockey.

Mickaël is delighted to join the Tokyo Canadians and is eager to play a role in helping grow the hockey community in Japan.
