TCHC 3rd Annual Nagano Tournament

It’s that time of year again! The Tokyo Canadians are hosting their 3rd annual hockey tournament in Okaya, Nagano on Saturday June 29th and Sunday June 30th. The format for this year’s tournament is going to be similar to the previous year’s formats, whereby there will be four teams playing round-robin games on Saturday and finals Sunday morning. 

On Saturday evening there will be a barbecue for all of the players and family. Finally, on Sunday there will be a quart final and championship game. Chalet lodging is available next to the rink for players and their families. There is also mini-golf and Lake Suwa to explore nearby, for those interested.

We would like to request all players to be at the Nagano ice rink by 8:45am Saturday for registration, team jersey distribution, lodge assignments and tournament payment. 

Date:          Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30

Cost:          Approximately 16,000 yen (includes ice time, jersey, BBQ and lodging)

Help Canada's National Beach Volleyball Team!

Our National Beach Volleyball Team members are all in debt in order to supported their Olympic Dream. They have stood up for themselves (see the Globe and Mail article below) and CAN Fund has created an Emergency Beach Volleyball Support Fund. The CAN Fund is asking you to donate to support our athletes. Any amount helps and you receive a tax receipt. There are three women's teams and four men's teams... all in debt, credit cards maxed and out of money.

There are 70 days to their Olympic Games and the athletes have personally funded their entire Olympic program. From coaching, travel, training camps, equipment and basic living. On top of that they have not received their sport carding (athlete's funding) in six months because of an arbitration between Volleyball Canada and a senior athlete.

We want them to qualify for the London Olympics and now they have two more tournaments and they are 19th in the world but need to be 16th to go to London. Their goal of going to London is possible and within reach.
